An Overview of the Nutrisystem Diet Plan

Posted on March 26, 2018 in Uncategorized

I get a lot of emails asking about the specifics of Nutrisystem. People want to know how it works, if it works, whether the food tastes good or not, how hungry you will be on it, how quickly the weight comes off, and if the diet is worth the money. In the following article, I’ll offer an overview of the Nutrisystem diet plan in an attempt to answer these questions.

How (And If) Nutrisystem Works: There are several things which I think make this diet work. They are: convenience, variety, education, and hunger control. What I mean by this is that there is not a lot of work for you to do on this diet. You don’t have to count calories or figure anything out. Basically, you eat the foods that they send you and you add in a healthy side item like a piece of fruit or a carton of yogurt with each meal.

The food on this diet is also pretty good. There are not many diets where you can chose cookies, candy bars, cereals and pizza. This company is really committed to developing comfort type foods that are healthy and safe for you to eat when you are trying to lose weight. There are over 120 food choices and they have just come out with their “select” line which includes gourmet frozen foods. In terms of taste and variety, the food on Nutrisystem, at least in my opinion, ranks quite highly.

They also offer you a lot of education about weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Counseling and coaching is available for free. All you need to do to take advantage of this is to make a food purchase. They really do a good job of offering the information and support that you need to succeed.

This company has been around for over 35 years and the diet was developed by weight loss specialists. You eat five times per day with this plan. There is actually a claim on the company’s website which said that 4 out of 5 dieters surveyed indicated that they were “never hungry” on Nutrisystem. I can’t make that claim because for me there was an adjustment period, but I do have to say that after a few days, I was fine and am quite used to the portion sizes and the frequent eating now.

The company claims that most people lose 2 pounds per week and up on this plan. I’m not sure about others, but I find this to be a pretty conservative estimate. I think it really all depends upon the carb content of the sides that you are adding in, since the foods provided by the company are a variable that doesn’t change.

Also, the foods are high in proteins and fiber. This is done to make you feel full for much longer. And, this combination helps to put your body in ketosis, which is a metabolic state wherein your body burns fat instead of carbohydrates due to the higher amounts of protein that you are taking in. (This is why I think that your results depend in part on the carbohydrate content of the sides that you are adding.)

The Reasonable Cost Of Nutrisystem: For the last several years, Forbes magazine has ranked Nutrisystem as the lowest price popular diet program. Most of the plans on this diet run around $300 or so dollars per month before coupons. This works out to under $3 per meal. Also, they now have the new flex plan (where you take two days off per week) that only runs a little over $200 per month, which brings the cost way down, even though admittedly you are getting less food for your money.

Still, this is even before coupons and once you use them you will often find that you can pay less than you would pay if you were attempting to diet and buy groceries.

NutriSystem Diet Advantages

If you are considering NutriSystem diet then you have probably seen plenty of websites listing the pros and cons of this weight loss plan. Though I read reviews of products and websites often, I find that there are individuals who will focus on the negative points of most anything, and this can be detrimental to giving it a fair chance.

So instead I am going to give you the mindset that you can use to be a success and finally lose the weight you want to on the NutriSystem diet. After all why should someone else’s issues become an obstacle to you getting thin and healthy.

The major benefit of the this weight loss plan is that the meals are prepared for you in advance. One of the best ways to be successful on a diet is to plan your meals the day before. When you are on the NutriSystem diet you could even do this for several days or a week in advance. So when life gets stressful and you are confused and short of time it is easy just to grab the meal that is on your schedule.

The meals that are prepared in advance are carefully measured so that you do not overeat. Ultimately what happens is that you start to eat less and get used to it. Over time you will find yourself being much more comfortable eating much smaller portions, this means your stomach has begun to shrink.

Current conventional wisdom says that it is important to eat often during the day. This is why you will be eating three meals and two snacks, five times a day is a very efficient timing of meals to enhance your weight loss.

Binge eating is often triggered by spikes and lulls in blood sugar levels. This can be remedied by adopting a diet that is concentrated in foods that have a low glycemic index. On this plan all the meals are carefully analyzed to have a low glycemic index.

An Overview of the Nutrisystem Diet and a List of the Celebrities Who’ve Endorsed and Been on It

Posted on March 14, 2018 in Uncategorized

The Nutrisystem diet may be best known as the diet on which many celebrities publicly dropped a lot of weight. Below is a list of famous people who’ve signed on with the company.

Women Celebrities: The women celebrity spokespersons have included Tori Spelling, Jillian Barberie, Marie Osmond, Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World), and Zora Andrich (from Joe Millionaire).

Postpartum Weight Loss: Nutrisystem is also known as the celebrity postpartum diet, as Tori Spelling and Jillian Barberie both lost over 40 pounds after giving birth to their children. (Tori with son Liam and Jillian with daughter Ruby). Following this weight loss, Tori Spelling showed off her new figure and bared a lot of skin for Pussy Cat Dolls while Jillian Barberie paraded around in a bikini proving that, even at 40, mothers can be extremely fit.

Men Celebrities: Because this diet plan has a very popular men’s diet, the company has obtained men celebrity spokespersons as well, including Dan Marino (ex NFL quarterback), Joey Fatone (Dancing With The Stars, N Sync), ex NFL coach Don Shula, and comedians Larry The Cable Guy And Ant (host of Celebrity Fit Club).

An Overview Of The Nutrisystem Diet: Whether you are famous or not, the diet works in the same way. It is prepackaged meal replacement plan. This means that, five times per day, you’ll eat the diet’s prepackaged meals and add your own healthy additions like fruits and vegetables, or yogurt. The foods are low calorie, low in carbohydrates, and high in protein. This situation sets up your body to burn its own fat, since there are not many carbs available for this purpose. The meals are very easy to assemble, with most being grab and go, and others only requiring minimal preparation.

Wide Variety Of Decent Tasting Comfort Food Choices: In my opinion, the best thing about this diet, (and probably the reason that it is so popular) is that there are many food choices (over 130) that include comfort foods, snacks, and desserts. There is pizza, macaroni and cheese, tacos, chocolate cake, ravioli, and cereals, muffins, and pancakes. And this is only the tip of the ice berg. I included these examples because they appeal to me, but everyone is different. Even if you are extremely picking as I am, there’s probably something that you will like.

And although you are technically on a low carb diet, you will not feel like you are. I find that the taste of the food is not too bad with a few exceptions. (I can not stomach the stroganoff.) And, unlike most other low carb diets, you aren’t eating meat all day / everyday and consuming large amounts of fat and cholesterol.

Cost / Effectiveness: The company says that the plan is designed so that dieters lose about 2 pounds per week. Of course, all the celebrities seem to do better than this and make it look oh so easy. Keep in mind Marie Osmond and Joey Fatone were kicking it up on Dancing With The Stars, and Jillian Barberie freely admits she had to work out postpartum for their first time in her life.

Still, it’s pretty clear that if you add some sort of exercise into your routine, you’ll enhance your results. It doesn’t have to be drudgery either. Just chose something you already like to do and kick that up a bit, like dancing, roller blading, or power walking. You’re also given a free work out video with all purchases.

The cost of Nutrisystem is around $10 per day, but there are usually specials running that throw in free shipping, extras / freebies or discounts. Considering the cost of gas and groceries today, this really isn’t too bad. You only pay for your food (no membership fees), and they offer free weight loss counseling.
